2015 Legislative positions and testimony
2015 AAUP OR Legislative positions final Here is a summary of our legislative positions.
Feb-17 2015-testimony on Senate Bill 113 This is José’s testimony on Senate Bill 113 which would require the universities to report on all categories of employees with their salary levels, thus giving us hard information about the growth in administrator ranks.
Feb-24 2015 testimony on Senate Bill 81 This is José’s testimony on Senate Bill 81 which would provide tuition waivers for the first two years of community college. We would support this measure if it were funded (it is not) and if it applied to four year public universities as well as community colleges.
Mar 2 2015-testimony on House Bill 2611 This is José’s testimony on House Bill 2611 which would extend the shared services that legislators set up when the universities were allowed to set up independent boards. Shared services include benefits (PEBB and PERS), collective bargaining with SEIU, and risk management. Allowing universities to opt out would be costly to the regional universities and to the taxpayers.

This is the testimony of Pam Miller, President of PSU-AAUP, about how the new boards of trustees are working out in practice. The Interim House Higher Education, Innovation and Workforce Development committee held the public hearing during Legislative Days.
