Faculty at UO rallied yesterday to send a clear message to the UO Administration and their negotiators:  We, the university community stand behind our faculty bargaining team and their proposals.

The United Academics negotiating team consists of nine faculty from departments across campus, and have been in negotiations since November 2012 for a first contract that prioritizes high quality research and instruction, a strong faculty voice in campus decision-making, and professional respect for all faculty.

Faculty rallied because despite having the support of faculty from across campus, and despite the faculty negotiators’ reasonable proposals, the Administration’s negotiating team still isn’t listening.

Faculty at the rally called on the Administration to devote the time and attention necessary to immediately reach agreement on a fair first contract.  Faculty negotiators believe that it’s possible to reach agreement before the end of the Spring term.
